Goals/Progress:

I have learned a lot within this semester. The way to write, the way to speak, and the way to think. Mrs. Jank has been frustrating at times, but I applaud her for pushing me to do my complete best. She’s a great teacher being knowledgable of the subject she teaches. Through this post, I will be explaining the things I have learned or I have improved.

I think the biggest thing that I have improved in is my speaking. When Mrs. Jank told me that we would be having a speech for our first Summative assignment, I was terrified. With the teaching she gave me, I was able to overcome my fear of presenting infront of the class and get a decent grade. I learned that I need to be confident in my speaking and lure the audience to be intrested in my speech. That’s exactly what I did in my second speech and got a better grade. Obviously, this shows you that I progressed and learned from my past.

The next thing that was huge in my learning is the way I write my stories. Mrs. Jank has taught me how to make my writing pieces more interesting. Through espically mood, adding description to the simplest things. This allows the reader to feel how the characters feel in the writing. I feel like this is the biggest thing when it comes to writing because no one wants to read a boring piece without description.

The one thing that I want to continue working on is blending quotes within my writing piece. That being an essay, research paper, or whatever. I would really like to get that concept down and figuring out the best way to word something to make it flow. That’s he biggest thing I learned, but would like to continue developing in that area.

Overall, I really enjoyed this semester, with the things we wrote and were able to choose. It allowed me to express the ways I thought and what I would want to write about. I thought that the speeches would be very difficult, but in the end hey weren’t too bad and I was decently capable. Great semester, and I hope that I continue in my learning of English.

Edit May 7:

Throughout the year I have learned a lot and have overcome a lot of goals. I use to be absolutely terrible with character development and sentence structure. With the help of my teachers, Mrs. Jank and Ms. Wiederrich, I have been able to become a better writer, but also a better reader. I have made great progress on my goals with being a better writer in stories. I really enjoy writing stories and I do my best to make the best piece I can make for my readers.  Through writing various essays, The American Dream and Disposable Essay, I have been able to develop and increase my skill in sentence structure. Another thing that has increased in skill is my description in my sentences. This act produced mood, allowing the writing pieces I wrote to be more interesting and to give an image in the readers head.

Obviously, I believe that I have increased greatly in skill of writing, but there is always room for improvement. I feel like I can continue to practice these struggles and make new goals to work on in the future. There is a lot that can be worked on and all it takes is time and practice to perfect those flaws. That’s what I look to do in the future of my high school career.
