Research Source Pondering

This first source was a very interesting source, having different view points and perspectives. This individual made this source very bias to the topic that I was trying to research about, Black Lives Matter. This source was based off of the perspective of the supportive side to the “Black Lives Matter Movement.” The author strongly states that Black individuals, don’t get the same respect as any other individual, like a white individual. The author goes into explaining from a “biblical text perspective,” saying, “I explore the question of which lives matter in the Hebrew Scriptures… It cannot be said that all lives matter in the Bible, nor can it be said that, of those lives that do matter, they matter equally.” A strong statement there, which in my opinion isn’t actually true. Since God has given us merciful grace, signifying that he cares about each and everyone of us. This tells us “ALL LIVES MATTER.” I plan to use this in my research paper to show the different perspectives from each side of the movement of “Black Lives Matter.”

This second source came a perspective of a more neutral side, I’d say. He talks to different people getting their different opinions on the group “Black Lives Matter.” His biggest claim I believe is that should the name be changed from “Black Lives Matter” to “All Lives Matter.” Personally with this guys statement, I really pondered this, agreeing that maybe this movement would get more respect if they changed their name to maybe “Innocent Lives Matter.” That’s what this guy went on to say talking to different peers to give their insight on the topic. The author gives statistics about white police officers shooting black individuals, or treating them unfairly than other races. With these quotes in the source, and through the statistics, I will use this in my research paper as another perspective to relate how society sees this group of people.

This third source comes more from a perspective as a Christian. Involving bible references within the source and referring to what God thinks about all of this. This author talks about the history of African Americans and their rights through history. The author’s biggest claim is how God has given us this gift to live and the gift of grace to prove that all lives matter. There will be sin and there will be troubles because that’s just human nature. It’s more about being against those who decide to hurt those with a different skin color because of the color of their skin. He talks about how everyone is accepted and everyone shall be treated equally. I will use this in my paper, as another perspective and more knowledge of how to go about these different perspectives.

This fourth source is coming from the perspective of seeking more Civil Rights for those that are African American. The author speaks about the different incidents with different peers of white officers shooting innocent African Americans and killing them. The authors main claim is to continue to fight for Civil Rights for those that feel like they don’t have enough. Not only that, but it also continues to tell us what the whole Black Lives Matter Movement truly is. In my paper, once again this will help me come from a perspective to reinforce the different sides and arguments from each individual.

This fifth source is coming from the perspective of members in the BLM. They talk about their experiences of protests and what and how they think about people. It’s on a very bias level, talking about White Supremacist and how they’re basically terrible people. This source also shows statistics of shootings within the article that helps their side to show they need more Civil Rights. The whole bumble jumble is that the majority of the black race states they don’t have enough Civil Rights. Do to the racist acts of white police officers shooting and killing black individuals. With my research paper I will use this source to help me show data, seeing if our society sees this whole thing as disposable.
